Al Arba’ah D’varim HaBeit Sefer Omed! – The Four Things On Which Our School Stands!

Ivrit (Hebrew): Build confident and competent Hebrew readers from letter recognition through understanding prayers and  basic conversational Hebrew. Hebrew is a foundational piece connecting generations of Jews to each other.

Tarbut (Culture): Explore the history and practices celebrating the diversity of Jewish cultural practice.

Yehadut (Judaica): Creating hands-on experiences that deepen students’ understanding of Jewish history, holidays and Reform Jewish traditions.

Kehillah (Community)

TBS Religious School maintains a welcoming, safe and inclusive environment for all. We respect the needs of our community and our families. TBS wants families to grow together, worship together and create a sacred community (kehillah kedoshah) built on kindness and friendship.

TBS Religious School offers opportunities for the family to learn and grow together with other families. We invite families to participate in services, social gatherings, holiday programs and volunteer opportunities.

Our Parenthood committee welcomes parent volunteers with opportunities to help plan events during the school year.

The Bar/Bat Mitzvah of Your Child Within Our Congregation

The family of the bar/bat mitzvah candidate must be a member in good standing with a minimum of two years of regular attendance within the TBS Religious School or other recognized Jewish educational program approved by the Rabbi and the Education Director.

A Bar/Bat Mitzvah is a ceremony held in the synagogue to mark a young person’s coming of age, which enables the young person to bear personal responsibility for his/her actions. The bar/bat mitzvah serves as a positive statement by our youth that they are ready to accept the mantle of Jewish life on their terms. Also, this ceremony marks the beginning of a commitment to lifelong Jewish learning. Our staff prepares each child to make that affirmative step at 13 years of age for both males and females.

Bar/Bat Mitzvah Overview

Bar/Bat Mitzvah dates are scheduled during the 6th grade year. To reserve a date, your family must be a TBS member, and the student must be enrolled in TBS Religious School or an approved Jewish educational program. In the year leading up to the bar/bat mitzvah, students must maintain a 75% attendance record and families should regularly attend Shabbat services. This is a requirement and if not met, your date may be postponed. It is also the policy of the TBS Board of Directors that all tuition, dues and fees related to the Bar/Bat Mitzvah are paid in full prior to the event.
